I saw a lot of caregivers this month. And most of them with very heavy hearts. This is for you… In 2006, I tore this small verse out of the book that was handed out at my Father’s Funeral Service.
We alone of all creatures know that one day we and each of our loved ones will die. Yet we dare open ourselves to others, to trust them and love them, knowing that eventually they will leave us. And we dare to let other people love us. Knowing that we will leave them. How wonderful that we are so courageous, and so irrational, for life would pale, empty and lonely without such love.
We are lucky to love others… whether at the beginning of the journey… or the end… It’s a wonderful piece of the journey.
