Han-A-Miss (Hanukkah + X-mas)
That’s how we roll in our house.
Our Big Bizarre Brady Bunch family celebrates both. And to make it even more complicated… add in 2 divorces… 4 houses… 4 Step-Siblings, A Half Sister, 2 Step-Parents… and as you can see… too big a tree!
But… we have changed things up to make it work for all of us.
Hanukkah hasn’t even started… yet in our house it’s night #3!
You see… it isn’t about certain dates… it’s about being together. So… since we share our children… more importantly, our children share us… we celebrate when we can all be together. So, Friday night was our traditional family M+M Dreidel competition with cousins, last night was night #2… and tonight #3.
And how did we celebrate night #3… as a family.
Because tonight will be the only night that all the kids can be together. It’s the holiday kid overlap. So… we set up the family X-mas tree too. And as you can see… A swing… and a miss!
So, during a season when things can be hard for a multitude of reasons… just be grateful for the time… not the days… as they are what’s precious.
